Adler Planetarium Parking

The Adler Planetarium, which opened in 1930, is America’s first planetarium and has become a recognized leader in science education. 

Special exhibitions, immersive theater programs, and events such as lectures and viewing parties allow visitors to journey through the vast universe. The museum is home to three full-size theaters, including the Grainger Sky Theater, fashioned as a virtual observatory, the all-digital projection Definiti Space Theater for the 3D Universe Theater.

Exhibits include, but are not limited to:

• What is a Planet?: The definition of a planet has changed a lot in the last 500 years – find out what makes a planet today!
• Mission Moon: Learn about America’s first moon landing and experience an astronaut’s journey.
• Our Solar System: Touch a piece of Mars, place your hand on a Moon rock, and make your own mini crater as you learn about our solar system.
• The Universe – A Walk Through Space and Time: Follow the Universe from its inception and see how galaxies, stars, and planets were created as the Universe grew.
• Astronomy in Culture: Travel back in time to learn how Medieval European and Middle Eastern stargazers invented spectacular tools to understand and interact with the Universe.
• Planet Explorers: A family-friendly hands-on exhibit with three educational play areas to entertain kids ages 3 – 8.
